Players may start a bid on a lot or increase one of their existing bids by sending a message in #auctions. Upon starting a bid or increasing a bid, the player loses a number of points equal to the amount placed or increased, respectively. If the player does not have that number of points, or the bid is not a natural number greater than 0, the action fails.
When a bidder ceases to be a player, all of their bids on active auctions are withdrawn and cease to be bids, and the bidder ceases to be a bidder.

At the end of the Auction Phase, the auction concludes and the lot is transferred to the possession of the highest bidder, and those who lost the auction receive a number of points equal to their bid.
Priority on a lot is a total order over bidders on that lot, and is defined as follows:
* If two bidders have different bids, the one with the higher bid has priority over the other.
* Otherwise, the bidder whose most recent start or increase of their bid was least recent has higher priority over the other.

At the end of the Auction Phase, the auction concludes, and for each lot the following occur in the order listed:
* The lot is transferred to the possession of the sole bidder with the highest priority on that lot (if one exists).
* Each other bidder receives a number of points equal to their bid on that lot.
